Leave your Comfort Zone, enter your Effort Zone

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011
My father chanced to use the above title, as a part of a conversation one day and the line kind of stayed with me. It gave me a sense of moving into a new plane. Of course it came with its due supplements of being attached with new responsibilities. But it was because of the effort made, that new horizons start appearing into perspective.
My father is a brilliant motivator and has the ability to inspire individuals. He has always encouraged gathering a skill set and immediately unfurls new opportunities. For instance,
when he discovered my love for animation and literature, he immediately asked me to initiate a platform dedicated to art and literature and share it with others. Being a skeptic at times, I had my doubts and fears, but it was because of the effort I made with his push that the platform started having workshops every month and newsletters on art and animation were released on a monthly basis and one thing led to another.
But if I had rested joyfully in that Comfort Zone of not venturing into anything, perhaps I would not have seen the sunshine that the feeling offered me after entering the Effort Zone fearing the rain showers and grey clouds. The Effort Zone statement inspired me to such a great level, that it helped me find my life partner ! Miracles begin to start evolving…and this evolution unlike love has reasons, which are definitely known! They are called Efforts.

Assumptions Are Worse Than Reality

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009
are three ways of knowing about something or someone: what we know, what we don’t know, and what we think we know…….and it’s usually what we think we know that gets us in trouble. When we assume things, we gamble; the bigger the assumption, the bigger the risk.
In any endeavor based on assumptions we can absolutely count on some of them giving way, like support timbers under a house collapsing. Some assumptions may hold for a long time, some almost forever, but most will collapse at a bad time and cause damage. When we make decisions based on facts and when we acknowledge all that we don’t know, the long term outcomes are better.
Practical Tip: When analyzing a situation write down what you know, what youdon’t know, and what you assume. Naming assumptions is key. Want to play it safe? Don’t make assumptions. How? Catch yourself making assumptions.
